A NEW THRILL
When my family first move to Dubai, many moons ago (early 80s), there was not much to do here apart from hanging out in the one mall that existed then. Then I discovered that there was an ice skating rink in Al Nasr Leisureland and I was thrilled. I spent the hot summer months (weekends) attempting to ice skate. In the process of teaching my self to skate I fell on the ice so many times that I ended up spraining all my fingers and both my ankles but it was well worth it because eventually being able to ice skate without holding on to the railing was a great thrill.
Unfortunately, I never kept up the practice of ice skating after I went to university, and now have returned back to my initial status of amateur ice skater (who holds on to the railing and dear life) while circling the rink.
But now…thanks to Dubai’s relentless habit of doing the impossible, we have a new thrill….SKI DUBAI
SKI DUBAI is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East. So now when you’re done with your shopping at the Mall Of The Emirates, you can get your kit on go play in the snow. I won’t go into details of the facility as the link provided will do that for you but I will just gives you a ‘heads up’ that if you spot someone on the SKI DUBAI slope sliding down on his face, screaming obscenities, it is most likely going to be me because as usual I will not have a clue as to what I am doing.
