Dubai Concert Scene

As mentioned in an earlier post, Bryan Adams returns to Dubai for yet another concert. Although I am not a fan, I did manage to see him twice in concert here in Dubai. His first concert was held in Al Nasr leisureland and I went because I had free passes (and nothing better to do), and the second one was held at Dubai Tennis Stadium and I decided to attend because he performed with Chicane, and I have to say that although Bryan headlined the act, the first hour with Chicane performing was so good that Bryan had to bring Chicane back on near the end to give the audience an exciting encore.

Since that concert, I’ve seen Sting and Deacon Blue perform live and they were both great acts. Unfortunately for me, no other concerts since then fit my taste. Although, there are many “mainstream” acts (for the lack of a better word), none of them are my cup of tea, or bowl of soup for that matter.

I would appreciate it if the promoters here in Dubai also invited bands that are classified as ‘alternative’. Bands such as Coldplay, Keane, Travis, etc. would do well here because they tend to have a huge following world-wide. I know at least, I would attend.

But if there is one musician that I would even quit my job to see (no, not really) but I believe deserves to be seen by Dubai audience, it would have to be David Gray. One concert of David Gray would cure all of society’s ills relating to “Popish Boy-bandism” and bring sanity to your musical universe.

There is a Canadian performer who is absolutely fantastic. He has created a DVD and sang with the Jordanaires (use to sing with Elvis) This man is so great to listen to. All his show around here are always sold out. Check out his site or ask to be forwarded a promotional package. He really wants to perform in Dubai. Where can he market his talent there?

    Thanks,
    Bernice
