Green Line OPEN

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has inaugrated the Green Line Friday 09 09 2011.

14 trains would run on the line during peak hours while 10 would ply during non-peak hours, helping people travel quicker in areas which are perennially clogged by traffic and congestion

23kms line, dotted by 20 stations, runs through the heart of Dubai and is expected to take public transport numbers higher, while helping reduce travel time by at least 40 per cent in the Central Business Districts as well as solving some of the problems in the areas like parking and traffic jams.

18 of the 20 stations, including the two transfers stations of Khalid bin Al Waleed and Union Square, would open initially, while the remaining two – Al Jaddaf and Creek – would open at a later date

The Metro was the result of the vision drawn up for Dubai to become the first city in the region to have an integrated public transport system, because it is the financial, tourism and trade hub. Shaikh Mohammed have stressed that ALL projects related to Health Education & Housing will remain on track and priority for the Government.
