Street Racing??

Last night, me and the lady decided to take a stroll along Buheira Corniche around midnight.

We had a nice snack at the traditional restaurant there, overlooking the most spectacular view of Sharjah!

I noticed a small group of people meeting up there with Nissan Skylines, Hondas and some other cars, all done up as street racers. There was also a group of bikers on Harleys and even an old Triumph!!!

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this the beginning of the “fast and the furious” street racing cult?

    Farrukh,

May be it’s the first time you encountered them, these guys are all over the place. Most of them used to hangout near Mamzar Corniche, Dubai, but since Dubai police is not allowing them to do stunt on deserted beach road there, these guys started coming towards Sharjah side. I watched them doing street racing on the Al Tawun Beach road, around 1 am last weekend.

Actually, they are nothing but a bunch of show-offs, who don’t even know how to put muffler back after racing. They just do modification by installing body kits, putting Zeon rally bulbs in head lamps and decorating the dashboard with lots of gadgets (which probably they don’t even know what these gadgets do).

If you really want to see the racing, go to RAK, they have a properly engineered racing track with dirt side tracks and emergency services. Last year in Ramadan, I visited the place during a rally and saw some amazing cars, to name few; thunderbird, shalby remake and a vintage corvette. All the cars were modified in every aspects minus the NOS, which is not allowed on the track.

Wow! that’s really awesome!! I’m going to Ummul Qawain this weekend for a race event but will def visit RAK soon.
Is there a street racing scene active in Sharjah or Dubai? I would really like to check it out and if possible, even try to participate ;)
