Great inventions

With all the recent furore and mudslinging between East and West, it’s nice to see a feature on How Islamic inventors changed the world. Inventions include innoculation, the fountain pen, numerals, windmills, a spherical earth and even how the eye uses light to see.

The best must be Abbas ibn Firnas, who spent his life trying to make a flying machine. This may be him at Ibn Battuta mall:

Ibn Battuta mall is also currently creating displays of various Arab and Muslim scientific inventions. Some appear to be nearly finished.
